Be Tire Smart Week a Great Success

The first-ever national Be Tire Smart Week was held April 25 - May 1, 2004. As part of The Rubber Association of Canada and the Government of Canada's ongoing "Be Tire Smart - Play Your PART" campaign, Be Tire Smart Week helped to educate drivers about the safety and environmental benefits of proper tire inflation and maintenance.

Over 600 tire dealer outlets and several tire manufacturers and distributors nationwide participated by distributing more than 70,000 Be Tire Smart brochures to their customers.

In addition to the participation by the tire industry, a number of other partners helped promote proper tire maintenance during Be Tire Smart Week:
  • Provincial ministers of transportation in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Nova Scotia issued public statements of support for the initiative.
  • Canadian Tire distributed 200,000 campaign brochures in its stores across Canada.
  • The Halifax Regional Police distributed campaign brochures to 800 drivers during two roadside checks.
Media outlets across the country were very supportive of the initiative. Dozens of stories appeared, delivering the message of the benefits of proper tire maintenance directly to millions of drivers.
